Annie started playing Club Volleyball at age 11. Annie is now studying Exercise Sports Science at Texas State University and will be a Junior this fall. Annie played volleyball for Seven Lakes 6A High School as a Defensive Specialist. In 2015 she was named 1st team all district. Annie was the recipient of the AAU Junior National Volleyball Championship All Star Award in 2013. Annie has worked many summer leagues and try-out clinics focused on ages 11-18. This summer Annie will be a camp counselor for Camp Champions mentoring young teens. Annie also works at the Texas State Rec Center as a group fitness instructor.
This will be be Annie's 4th year with WAC this fall.
Stephanie is a Wimberley High School Graduate of 2008. Stephanie graduated Texas State University in 2012 with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies. Stephanie is in her 4th year at Danforth Jr. High and is currently teaching 8th grade American History. In Addition Stephanie coaches Volleyball, Basketball, Track and Cheerleading at Danforth, TEXAN PRIDE!
Stephanie has been active her entire life. Playing all sports in Jr. High. to include an attempt at tennis! Stephanie focused on Basketball and Cheerleading throughout High School. She supported her friends and classmates in the several State Volleyball Championships to include her Senior year, 2008! She currently runs and lifts weights to stay active.
In Addition Stephanie is a huge sports fanatic, her favorite teams are Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, Boston Red Sox and of course the Texas State Bobcats, Eat ‘EM Up CATS!
This will be Stephanie’s 3rd season with WAC this fall.

We are very proud to have Coach Milner back at home in Wimberley.
Coach Milner has been playing and/or coaching volleyball since 1975 (yes, Gerald Ford was president !) His WORDS!
He is a Graduate of UT Austin 1981 (I bleed burnt orange !) More of his words!
He has been married to his beautiful wife, Natalie, for 27 years. They have two wonderful kids…Maddie Jo age 25 (member of 2007 Wimberley State Champs) and Evan Douglas age 21 (Professional Golf Associate at Barton Creek Resorts)
Coach Milner recently retired after 28 years as a high school social studies teacher/coach at Sommerville, Johnson City, Boerne, Temple, Wimberley and Steele High School.
We are pleased to drag him out of retirement to coach our 17’s!
Coach Milner has coached volleyball at the college club, junior club and high school levels. He is USAV CAP II certified.
In his 28 years of coaching UIL volleyball:
– made playoffs 23 years
– 18 District Championships
– 9 Regional Finals
– 7 Final Four appearances
– 6 State Championships (all with Wimberley) TEXAN PRIDE

Sydney started playing volleyball at the age of 11. Sydney is now studying Biology at Texas State University and will be a Sophomore this fall. Sydney played volleyball for Seven Lakes 6A High School. Sydney played two years JV and two years Varsity. Sydney started her volleyball career as a rightside but was transitioned to a Defensive Specialist/Libero. In 2016 she was named 1st team all-district. Sydney's 15’s Club year she competed in the Junior National Championship and placed 3rd. Sydney has worked many summer leagues and try-out clinics for all ages.
This will be Sydney's 3rd Season with WAC this fall.
Welcome Coach Katie Gillman! Coach Gillman is our new WISD Jr. High Coach, where she will be coaching volleyball, basketball and track. She will also be teaching American History. Coach Gillman is a graduate of Canyon Lake High School 2013, where she played both Basketball and Volleyball. In Basketball she won First Team - All District and was awarded Comal County Player of The Year. In her high school volleyball career, she won First Team - All District, MVP and Second Team - All District.
Coach Gillman has coached club for Canyon Lake Club for several years.
Coach Gillman has also run and/or assisted several team camps for multiple sports.
Coach Gillman attended Dallas Christian College and transferred to Texas State University and graduated in 2018. She played volleyball at Dallas Christian College and won All Region Player. She holds a major in History and a minor in Education.
In Addition, Coach Gillman was just married in July to her husband Cody. She also plays a lot of sand volleyball in the summer and loves to fish - A LOT! Fishing is one of her favorite things to do.
This will be Coach Gillman's first season to coach with WAC and we are so happy to have her. She will be our Club 12’s Head Coach and run our Network camp for 6th graders.
Mattie started playing Club volleyball at age 10. Mattie has been in the WAC Family since second grade as a Little Digger followed by five competitive years of WAC’s Club Volleyball program and two years at an outside club. At Wimberley High School, Mattie was a 3 year varsity letter winner in Volleyball as a Defensive Specialist/Libero. Mattie’s Senior year, she lead her team to the Area Championship and a Regional QTR Final finish. Mattie was awarded First Team - All District as well as Academic All-District. Mattie is a three time Academic All-District honoree, an All-District Defensive MVP, three-time Team Defensive MVP. Mattie was Coached by our own Stephanie Barthels! Her Junior year her team finished as Regional Semi-finalist while she earned second-team honors, as a Sophomore led her team to finish as Regional Finalists. In Addition, Mattie is a three-year Letter winner in Track where she advanced all three years to Regional finals. Mattie’s Senior year she advanced to Regionals in three different events. Mattie is also a three-year letter winner in Softball and was named First-Team All District and All-State Academics.
Mattie is a current member of the Texas State Volleyball team and lettered her Freshman & Sophomore year as a Defensive Specialist. Her freshman year she earned an All-Tournament Team award for the Creeds and Crests Tournament.
She is currently in her 3rd season and has competed in 46 sets this season. The Bobcats just landed the title of Conference Champs in the 2018 Sun Belt Conference. Mattie is very active with the Bobcats and does several volunteer activities as well as supports many of the other Bobcat teams.
Mattie has worked for WAC for 7 years with volleyball camps and clinics.
This will be Mattie’s 4th season this fall as an Asst. Coach.

Stephanie Barthels - Varsity Volleyball Head Coach
Stephanie Barthels started her coaching career while going to college. She was at Wharton Co Jr College and was on scholarship to be the assistant volleyball coach. She then transferred to Texas Lutheran and while going to school and was the head volleyball and basketball coach at Lifegate Christian School for a year. She graduated in 2003 from TLU. In 2004, she started her public school teaching/coaching at Marion ISD. She was a middle school coach her first year and then she became the Head volleyball coach, JV basketball, and assistant track coach for 3 years. After her stint in Marion she came to Canyon Lake HS and was the freshmen volleyball and basketball coach for 3 years. She's now been at Wimberley for 7 years. She has coached freshman volleyball and JV volleyball, along with MS and freshman basketball, and also MS track. She a husband of 4 years. They have 1 four legged girl, Remington, who is the best big 'sister' to their 2 legged baby girl, Judith. In her years teaching she has taught science, health, and Special Education.
Stephanie loves to travel out West to Montana and leads a trip annually from the school that visits National Parks. She also includes hanging with her family, going to church, watching college and high school sports.
